Growing Our Own Tea
Producing the best teas takes dedication and commitment. It means following the tea leaves all the way from the tea plant to the tea pot. You can't do that simply by purchasing tea leaves. At Lipton®, we also grow our own. We have our own tea estates in India, Kenya, and Tanzania.

We conduct extensive research programs at our estates to improve growing and harvesting practices so you enjoy a dependably delicious cup.

Sustainable Agriculture
To grow the best leaves, we need to protect the land. And let's face it, if we hurt the land, we're out of business. That's why we take Sustainable Agriculture very seriously at Lipton®.

'Sustainable Agriculture' is a term for growing crops profitably without hurting people and the environment now and into the future. By practicing Sustainable Agriculture Production, we ensure that our tea estates remain healthy, and that we're able to harvest the finest tea leaves.

How do we practice Sustainable Agriculture Production?
  • We produce tea with high yield and nutritional quality to meet existing and future needs, while keeping resource input as low as possible.
  • We ensure that any adverse effects on soil fertility, water, air quality, and biodiversity are minimized.
  • We optimize the use of renewable resources while minimizing the use of non-renewable resources.
  • We enable local communities to protect and improve their well-being and environment.
By 2010, all Lipton Yellow Label teabags sold in Europe will be certified by the international environmental NGO (non-governmental organization), Rainforest Alliance. Our goal is to extend certification to ALL Lipton tea bags in Canada (and globally) by 2015.

We've been in this business for over 100 years, so we understand forward thinking. We want our tea to be enjoyed by future generations. To do that, we must respect the land that grows your tea.
